JONATA WINE REPACKAGING
During my sophomore year I took a Packaging Elective, and one of the design challenges was to redesign a wine brand. I chose the brand Jonata, which is the sister brand of Screaming Eagle.
I turned this project into more of a collectors/luxury packaging item. I was inspired by my wood shop classes at the time but wanted to combine the rustic wood elements with a more modern 3D element.
I crafted the Jonata Winery wine box from layers of walnut and oak. Then the top of the box was laser cut with the new logo I designed, to help increase branding. In order to make the wine bottle secure and engaging, I 3D modeled the wine bottle and had the shape of the bottle carved out of the box by a CNC machine. To finish it off I gave it a magnetic closure system so it had a seamless closure showing off the layers of wood
